Ending your session (already!)

This is as good a time as any to explain how end your session in case you're caught short, and also to explain how to get back in next time. This is orientated to Dept Users yet again, but by no means exclusively so.

To exit Mosaic

Don't do this until you've read this whole page: Click on File on the menu bar, then click on the Exit option.

To get back in next time

This is the procedure for Dept Users (and others) to follow to get firstly from the Windows environment into Mosaic, and then into this Internet tutorial.

  1. In the Windows environment, double-click on the Mosaic icon using the mouse
  2. Resize the newly opened application window if you wish
  3. Dept Users can now jump to step 8, but will benefit from understanding the steps they skip
  4. Click on the File option on the menu bar which produces a dropdown menu
  5. Click on the Open URL option on the dropdown menu, which produces another options object titled 'Open URL'
  6. Within this new options object, click in the white box to the right of the colon-punctuated URL:
  7. Enter into this box everything in bold then click on the OK button http://www.cryst.bbk.ac.uk/
  8. You will then get the Birkbeck Crystallography Homepage (Dept Users get automatic loading of this document), and from here click on the Internet Tutorial hypertext link
  9. This will take you to the overview from where you can resume the tutorial

If you want to save a textual copy of this procedure on disk, whcih you can then print at will, then do the following:

  1. Click on Options on Mosaic's menu bar, then click on the Load to Disk option
  2. Click here and follow the save instructions
  3. Repeat Step 1 to toggle off the Load to Disk option
