Location

Birkbeck College is in central London just behind the British Museum. (Nearest Tube Stations Russell Square, Goodge Street, Euston and Euston Square all about five minutes walk). It is 5 minutes walk from Euston BR and 15 minutes walk from Kings Cross/St Pancras BR. A map can be found on the Birkbeck College Web page.

The lecture theatre was opened in 1997 and is part of the Clore Management Building on Torrington Place. This is just behind (to the East) of the Main Building of Birkbeck that houses the Crystallography Department. The Entrance Hall to the Clore Building includes the Bernal Picasso. This is a mural drawn by Pablo Picasso on the walls of the old Department of Crystallography building in Torrington Place, when he was visiting J.D. Bernal. It has recently returned to the college from the ICA.

Commercial Sponsorship

We can distribute publicity or freebies (pens, pads etc) to delegates in exchange for a moderate sponsorship fee. We are unable to provide space for commercial stands. This will go towards speakers expenses and keeping the costs down. Email if you are interested. We have already had a number of generous sponsors.

Accommodation

We are not offering a booking service for accommodation as most participants will be able to travel on the day. Central London has hotels of all standards (and most prices). If you want to be close, look for hotels that advertise as being in Bloomsbury or close to Euston or the British Museum. It may be possible to book University of London Halls try this link.
