Try using this number instead of the address: 132.76.55.12
The 8888 is the port number that you're connecting to - with telnet it's
usually just used like this:
%telnet bioinformatics.weizmann.ac.il 8888
but in a URL it looks like this (note the colon):
telnet://bioinformatics.weizmann.ac.il:8888
| 1) there is no manual and many comments assume certain knowledge I do
| not have.
Don't panic - that's what this list is for.
| 2) I CANNOT work with my sysop to resolve computer problems, such as when
| 'spawning external viewer' results in absolutely nothing!! I have reams
| of error messages and hesitate to post them to this list unless
| absolutely necessary.
A bit more information would be useful - for example what operating system are
you running? This applies to all queries posted to this list - it's very hard
to diagnose problems when all you know is that "it doesn't work". You don't
need to provide everything, but as a start:
* The machine type and operating system (e.g. "386 PC, 4Mb RAM, Windows 3.1")
* Browser and version number (e.g. netscape v1.0N)
* The exact text of any error messages (write them down, don't "remember" them)
* If it's a reproducible problem, what do you have to do to reproduce it?
* Are specific URLs involved? If so, contact the owner of the URLs as well - it
may be something they've done.
*... I think you get the general idea
