Lipases

For a detailed description of lipases, we thank Sophie Clarke of York University.

Harpreet Singh has also prepared a page on Triacylglycerol Lipase

Some Carboxylic Esterases

Triacylglycerol hydrolase from Candida rugosa fungus. Three N-acetylglucosamine residues at two sites are included: two N-linked residues at Asn 351 and one N-linked residue at Asn 314. 534 residues.

Triacylglycerol acylhydrolase from Rhizomucor miehei; complexed with diethylphosphate; complex with N-hexylphosphanate ethyl ester (C-alpha atoms only) PIC

Human pancreatic lipase complexed with colipase

Bovine pancreatic phospholipase A2 (phosphatide acyl-hydrolase) with 2 molecules of 2-methyl-2,4-pentanediol. For a detailed description of the active site and a proposal for a reaction mechanism, see Renetseder et al.(1985).

Here is the zymogen , which has seven additional residues at the N-terminus (see REMARK 5 and SEQRES records of the pdb file; N.B. I couldnt seem to find these seven residues though).

Lipases are described by Sophie Clarke of York University in her section on interfacial activation of triacylglyceride lipase.
