Laptop Networking

Networking your laptop can be acheived in a couple of ways.

WiFi

Use Eduraom (https://eduroam.org/) for WiFi access. You will need to configure your laptop for eduroam, instructions can be found here:

The College does provide a mechanism to add guests onto the College WiFi, but this will not be Eduraom but the Colleges own dedicated WiFi network.

Blue Cable Network

We offer a direct network cable for laptops (usually blue in colour) which provides a gigabit bandwidth and can be more reliable than WiFi. Most laptops these days require an adapter to allow an ethernet cable to be plugged into a laptop. This adapter will be provided with the laptop. If you have a personal laptop then we may still be able to provide an adapter if funds are available.

If you provide your own adapter or your laptop has an ethernet port then we still need to take some information from the adapter/laptop so that we can register it with our network and provided a fixed network address. Your laptop will not work on our blue cable network unless we do this.

Your laptop needs to be on our blue cable network if you wish to make use of our network attached printers.
