Dear All

(I have contacted all Eastern European Students separately so, unless you
haven't replied to my e.mail, do not pay any attention to this message).

I am in the process of sorting out centres for students to take exams.
When you enrolled you indicated whether you wanted to sit the exam, which
is set for the third week in September 1997, or not.

I would be grateful if you would:

a. Confirm that you would like to take the exam by e.mailing me as soon
as possible.

b. If you do decide to sit the exam would you be willing to contact your
local University and ask them if they would act an an external examination
centre on our behalf. Obviously if you do not wish to do this then I
would be grateful if you could pass on to me the telephone number of your
local University in order that I may approach them myself.

NOTE: Students in the UK need not approach their local university as we
already have centres established.

Just a few more words on administration.

Firstly all projects (to be worked on in the third term) should be handed
into David Houldershaw by the end of August 1997. Projects should be
submitted before the exam it taken.

Students who do not wish to take the exam but would like to receive a
certificate of attendance must *still* submit their projects by the end of
August to receive this certificate.

There may be a local administrative fee charged by the centre where you
take your exam although from our experience this sum is usually quite low.

Thanks in advance to those students who are able to contact their local
university or can pass on a telephone number. Obviously we would like to
set up external examination centres which are as close to you as possible
and generally the easiest way is via the local university.

I hope you are enjoying the course and if you have any questions please
contact me via my e.mail: j.mcgill@mail.cryst.bbk.ac.uk
