Mechanism of Action
The enzymatic reaction of serine protease has two major phases:

Acylation in which the peptide bond is cleaved
and an ester linkage is formed between the peptide carbonyl carbon and the enzyme.

Deacylation in which the ester linkage is
hydrolized and the enzyme regenerated.
