Dear All,

I've compiled Mage for the SGI (IRIX 5.2) - thanx to Dave H - and made a
.gz file of the resulting binary available on the W3. The URL is as follows:
http://www.cryst.bbk.ac.uk/~ubcgs7l/pps/mage.gz

One thing - the window surrounds (the bits the buttons/menus etc are on)
are a particularly unpleasant incandescent shade of green. This may be
solveable by altering the X-resources, but I haven't tried.

Oh, big thanx are due to Cornelius and Gail for the links they supplied
for my technology page. If anyone else would like to see anything there,
its as easy as emailing me.

Another thing I'd like to ask you all (yes, *all*) to do is try loading a
.pdb.Z file via your browser. With Netscape 1.0N on the SGIs here it
decompresses it on the fly before passing it to RasMol, saving 1/4 of the
transmission time (and, incidentally, disk space 8-). I've put links to
a tiny pdb file on my technology page (URL follows):
http://www.cryst.bbk.ac.uk/~ubcgs7l/pps.html
Try loading the .Z version, and LET ME KNOW WHAT HAPPENS. Or post to the
technical list - a new thread would be a good idea.

Yet another thing - I have now got my .mailcap file right. Here are the
chemical mime lines I now use (less my font/colour choices 8^):
chemical/x-pdb; xterm -T RasMol -e rasmol %s
chemical/x-kinemage; /cr/c2a/user1/ubcgs7l/bin/mage %s

Robin
