I agree that this is an invaluable resource and it's our intention to
preserve it, perhaps with some editing, along with the other course
material. Apart from its educational value (i.e. learning about proteins
and associated technology) it also acts as a permanent record of the course.
This is already a problem with things like the C++ course where some of
the original material has been removed - unavoidably!!

I think that the quality of discussion on the archives was of the
highest quality. We are at this moment in the middle of a virtual
conference on distance education (ICDE95) and the sort of way that course
memebers has used the mailing lists may be of great interest.
