Introduction To Amino Acids

This is a quick introduction to amino acids. It may be used as a short 'test workout' for anyone intending to undertake the GNA course titled Principles of Protein Structure within the Virtual School of Natural Sciences. You should be able to deal with this 'Introduction To Amino Acids' comfortably, including being able to download the images and interactive molecules within it.
Molecular coordinates (before manipulation) for this short course were taken from Klotho, the Biochemical Compounds Declarative Database at the Institute of Biomedical Computing, Wahington University. This database is also accessed directly from this short course via the page titled 'The Twenty Amino Acids' (see below).

In order to make use of interactive molecules, you will need to configure your WWW browser appropriately to invoke local molecular graphics software. Go here to find out how to do this.
