Regulation

Gene Regulation by Proteins

Prokaryotic Regulators

Many of the known activators and repressors of prokaryotic genes function as dimers.

Click here for a page on selected DNA-binding Dimers

Other examples include the met and arc repressors of Escherichia coli and Salmonella bacteriophage P22.

Henry Brzeski has produced this page on the lac repressor ; this is also a nice introductory tutorial to Rasmol .

Eukaryotic Regulators

E.g. homeodomains such as engrailed Homeodomain from fruit-fly,(3 pictures from Manuel Peitsch at Glaxo Geneva:)

Donovan Haines has produced a project on homeodomains .
