How to quantify a hydrogen bond

After we found three different ways to define hydrogen (or any!) bonds, it would be helpful if we could tell something about the strength of these bonds.

It is well known, that there is a relationship between the shortest and second shortest O-H bond. A picture about this relationship is shown below:

The bond valence model described in the next chapter will provide a simple model to quantify this relationship, while the use of the geometrical coordination will prove useful to minimize the scatter quantifying hydrogen bonds
