My thoughts on hydrophbic amino acids.

HYDROPHIC RESIDUE No 1 : Isoleucine

The reason being the isoleucine has a simple aliphatic carbon R group
with no charged residues available for hydrogen bonding and therefore
mimicking the aliphatic portion of the a lipid.

HYDROPHILIC RESIDUE No 1 : Asparagine

Asparagine has both a -NH2 and C=O available for hydrogen bonding
which would facilitate in the hydrogen bonding with water.

(Is it also fare to say that the lone pair electrons in the N and
C=O can delocalise and form a charge region ?? )

Steve.
